• The Overseer is an aspect of balance endlessly struggling to prevent either Order or Discord from disrupting the natural flow of events
o Overseer quests are moments in time that have either been deliberately disrupted by some force or another or are simply in jeopardy of falling into absolute Order or Discord (though most of the time we will probably be focusing on Discord)
o Overseer quests can sometimes mention that they are more directly affecting this struggle but actual “name dropping” is probably reserved for high tier quests
o Overall this concept is rarely (if ever) even implied in low tier quests
• “You” (the Overseer) are the player exerting your influence to help your agents create "balance"
o This is mostly implied in quest text and generally it is accomplished by sending agents to achieve goals they themselves would find beneficial
For example, Quests that imply tangible rewards are generally written for more mercantile minded agents, whereas quests that imply less tangible rewards are written for agents that are interested in power, protecting others, etc.
As a result, Overseer quests are always written for specific agents, though we never mention them directly since players can choose to send whichever agents they want (or have) on a quest
Narratively speaking, even "evil" agents can ultimately work towards balance, since absolute Discord is effectively complete annihilation of basically everything…
o The Overseer’s motivation here is to increase their ability to summon more powerful agents so that they can take on more severely disrupted moments
• Since Overseer quests are directed at the player, NOT the character the player currently has logged in, the writing style should be that of a third person narrator to differentiate it from normal in-game content
o If it helps we can potentially even think of player characters as a type of agent that “The Overseer” takes direct control of...

As the Overseer you must gain the loyalty of iconic characters, who join you as Agents, before sending them on Overseer Quests that thread throughout the history of Norrath. Once an Overseer Quest is started, since you aren't undertaking them yourself, you can simply wait until your Agents return, either in glorious success or ruinous failure...
If your Agents are successful, they return from their adventures with numerous and fabulous rewards for you to choose from. Gain enough of these rewards and your power as the Overseer will grow, giving you access to more challenging Overseer Quests and more powerful Agents.

Overseer Agents, or simply Agents, are unique characters from the world of Norrath that have joined the Overseer's cause. As the Overseer you can send these Agents into disrupted moments in Norrath's history where their unique sets of Jobs and Traits may help to restore balance. But be cautious, for Overseer Quests are dangerous and an Agent sent on one can suffer a variety of Incapacitations.
Some Agent Examples
• Firiona Vie – Basically the most famous character in the game
• Avatar of Tunare – We are specifically limiting “god” agents to the “Avatars” that they use when visiting Norrath
• Mayong Mistmore – Super evil and essentially a demigod at this point in EQ lore that players have fought multiple times
• Lorisyn Oakwynd – Currently very dead in EQ lore, but “well known” as the dead brother of one of Firiona’s companions
