Kibitzing With Kytherea
~~~~~~~~~~~~
Dear Kytherea;
My name is Whoos Urdaddi and I am a Froglok Priest of Marr on The world of Tunare. This is my problem...
My player was gone for a week on a business trip and while he was gone I found out that he ate frog legs one night for dinner. Frog legs!!! I have never felt so violated! We have not been on speaking terms since his return. (Well I have been refusing to speak to him.) He has made several lame attempts at an apology but I am just too deeply hurt. I found a recipe for Legs Benedict that calls for human legs and have been tempted to try it out. I know I can't eat my player's legs but I do have three candidates on the Tunarean world all of which have been comrades in arms and are also in the same box with me.
Gilliadson Shadowbane - A great Paladin of Marr probably much too powerful for me to tackle. Besides I would not wish to incur the wrath of Mithaniel Marr by attempting such a task.
Zephistophiles Tuneweaver - A bard and also Gilliadson's Chronicler... Way too fast for me to catch.
Soonguyen Ironfist - A Monk of Quellious I could probably take him after all he is six seasons beneath me.
The other problem is that I cannot find any hollandaise sauce anywhere in Norrath nor can I find a recipe for it. Would Jug O Sauces make a good Substitute? How about creamy fennel sauce? Or should I just forget this whole idea and accept my player's lame apology?
Thank you so much for listening to my problem. I think my wife is calling me. I suppose she wants to talk to me about this situation as well.
Yours Truly,
Curate Whoos Urdaddi of Tunare
Priest of Marr of 58 seasons
Dear Whoos,
One of the most important aspects of a relationship it is the ability to forgive your player. It takes a lot of courage to forgive and one who learns to forgive learns to make a relationship work. It is said "To err is human and to forgive is divine". How true it is! Only forgiveness can make you understand what friendship really is.
When you forgive you do it for you, not for the other. Forgiveness is a gift you give to yourself. It is not something you do for someone else, but it is something you do for yourself and in a way you give yourself peace of mind and it makes you a good follower of Marr. Refusing to forgive by holding on to the anger, resentment and a sense of betrayal can make your own life miserable. There is nothing so bad that cannot be forgiven, so don't hold on to the anger and resentment but let go of it and you will be much happier in life.
However should you find it truly impossible to give up that anger, resentment and a sense of betrayal I think I have a decent recipe for hollandaise sauce for you.
The most important aspect of a successful sauce is to use a double boiler and make sure not to allow the water in the bottom of the double boiler to boil, just remain, hot and lightly simmering. You can add a tablespoon of cold water if needed to reduce the heat of the water if it starts to boil.
The sauce should be served immediately upon completion.
INGREDIENTS
4 dairy spoons full of seaweed vinegar or fresh jumjum juice
6 dairy spoons full of boiling water
2 dairy spoons full of salt water
3 yolks from either aviak or rockhopper eggs
8 dairy spoons full of butter
1/2 dairy spoon full of spices
INSTRUCTIONS
Melt the butter and keep it warm.
Heat the seaweed vinegar or fresh jumjum juice until just warmed. Have a small saucepan with boiling water and a measuring tablespoon ready.
Place the top of a double boiler over (not in) hot water. (This means the bottom of the top of the double boiler sound not make contact with the water heating in the bottom half of the double boiler.)
Place the egg yolks in the top of a double boiler and whisk until they begin to thicken. Now add 1 tablespoon of the boiling water. Continue to beat the sauce until it begins to thicken. Repeat with the remaining water, one tablespoon at a time, beating the mixture after each addition.
Now add the warmed seaweed vinegar or fresh jumjum juice. Remove the double boiler from the heat. Beat the sauce briskly with a wire whisk. Continue to beat the mixture as you slowly pour in the melted butter. Add the salt water and spices and beat the sauce until it is thick. Serve immediately over your prepared human legs.
I have never tasted human of froglok before but I hear both taste somewhat like basilisk, which isn't too bad.
Before you take this route though I do urge you to reflect deeply and search your heart for the power to forgive your player. I fear that taking revenge in this way will only strength the growing rift between you.
Good luck to you!
Sincerely,
Kytherea
