Guild Name: Eye of Ra
Server: Saryrn
Guild Leader's Name: Anewbyss O'Bituary and Mezzrah Demention
How did your guild name get chosen? Egyptology and most other forms of mythos are a long standing hobby of Mezzrah and myself…and other founders had RL issues so took a while but got it all approved.
Are you the original leader of the guild? Yes.
When did your guild come into existence? January of 2003.
Do you have a website dedicated for your guild? We had a self contained website for the guild , however , hurricane season took it away from us and guildie is struggling to get back online as the site was also part of his personal business. We await his return and wish him well. Until then we have an active guild portal site.
How many members do you have in your guild? About 75 members plus their alts float in and out with an active core of about 30 and growing.
What kind of ranking system do you have? There are 4 main founders including Mezzrah and myself…then we have about 6 other officers.
Is there much opportunity for advancement within the guild? There is always chance for advancement in the guild…none will be higher than main four but that does not make their input any less important.
What are your current recruiting goals? Our goal is always to grow as much as possible while keeping quality of "people" up rather than quality of the "toon".
Does your guild have a 'charter' and other rules that you abide by to help hold the team together? We have several guidelines for officers and for members…the main rule we enforce is no arguing in guild chat…it always stays pleasant and troubles go to website or in tells with officers…this rule help A LOT to hold team together.
What are some benefits that your guild offers that other guilds don't? Perspective. Many of our guildies have been raiders…soloed their characters up themselves and are just tired of soloing. We have a bounty of perspective and patience in the guild.
Does your guild exist in other games? No only EQ.
What type of guild do you have, ie: family, casual raiders, hardcore raider, etc.? We actually were the original guild on server (in my time of play) to advertise as a grouping guild… a little more uber than a family guild but just as friendly. We always try to take "one grouping" to the next level.
What content are you currently working on in the game? Having started as a grouping guild we recently decided to start doing some retro raid targets and see how many we can do with 2 groups or less. At the moment we are working on getting into Vex Thall since none goes there anymoreJ Is role playing an important aspect for your guild? No, not normally…sometimes we joke in character but we are just people who like who each other is in RL.

Can you go through some of your great battles and quests you've conquered as a guild? How often does your guild participate in these events on a weekly basis? Well, honestly as a grouping guild, every epic battle has happened generally in regular groups…or trio group taking down a named mob or epic mob. We have yet to have long drawn out raids but I am sure some fun will surface soon. Grouping has always been main concern for us. Our toons know how to do their jobs. They are not PL'ed for raids or given free gear to join. Watching them perform under pressure is the finest hour for anyone near them when they do. We group as often and change it up as much as we can.
What is the most exciting event you can recall with your guild. Something that makes you think back and say to yourself, "This is why I play this game..." Our first ToB named kill. We had a little help from our friends in Club Fu, and took out Sir Savagery for our MT and he got the breastplate. Everyone was very happy and I personally started to cry lol. Was an emotional event and we were grateful for the help we had gotten. It had been our first bp/leg drop for anyone in the guild.
Who would you say is the toughest battle you have encountered? When you are not fully raid geared and don't have play time like a lot of other players and guilds…our guild has many tough battles. I am the most happy to play the game when I hear non guildies talk about how great EoR players are, and they tell me this not knowing who I am…I love my alts.
What has been the best expansion for the guild? Initially it was LDoN…that definitely helped jump start guild. But in the long haul I will have to say it is going to be TSS .. Better gear, achievable by grouping.
What advice might you give to people just starting out with a new guild or planning to start one? Do Not /ooc recruit…you get a way better class of players as a core that way.
What makes your guild unique? EoR was spawned when several main guild on server fell apart…from the ashes rose a few newer guilds with different purposes. EoR was one of those guilds and the other guilds have GREAT people but just not same views. So as friends we started our own guilds…but we connect still as friends and as the guilds have grown…the friendship opens up possibilities for EoR members and make raid things happen for grouping people that otherwise would not have happened without the original friendship with our raiding friends. So to sum, I would have to say the most unique thing about EoR is…Options.
