Once upon a time, people went on vacation and were pretty much out of reach until they got home. Can you believe it? Oh em gee.

Nowadays you can't go out to eat, to a movie, or even into...eww...the little elves' room, without hearing someone talking on a cell phone or sending a text message. Laptops, cell phones, and portable devices are taking over the world, and far be it from us to prevent anyone from communicating with their loved ones while they're at Fan Faire. (However, conducting actual business is strictly prohibited, as this is supposed to be a fun event!)

Cell Phones

Cell phones are welcome at Fan Faire, and occasionally we might even ask you to use them, but we do ask you to please use proper phone etiquette when you're in public areas. Not everyone wants to hear about your sister's friend's uncle's godmother-twice-removed's cousin's six-toed foot.

During panels and presentations, please remember to keep your phone silenced, and if you need to take a call, exit quietly from the room before starting your conversation. If you don't, large groups of orcs will be brought in to help you be polite.

If you have SMS service or a data connection on your phone, you can participate in our text mesaging events, and if you Twitter, be sure to tag your Twitter updates with #fanfaire.

Internet Connections

The Las Vegas Hilton provides high speed internet service in guest hotel rooms for $11.99 per 24 hours. For specific internet charge questions, please speak to a front desk agent.

There is also a business center in the hotel that provides internet service. Fees for the business center's high speed DSL access are $7.50 per each 15 minutes or $30.00 per hour. This service is offered by appointment.

Fortuna, a coffee and wine experience located in the hotel lobby, offers wireless internet access for a fee.

If you can't live without free WiFi, check online for your favorite coffee shop, burger joint or any other locations you know of that let you get connected and see if there's one in the area.

Cameras/Video

Yes, we want you to take pictures at Fan Faire! (And share them in our Flickr group!) We will also be taking pictures and/or videos, so be sure to smile. Especially if you wear a costume, win a prize, or take part of Brenlo's annual banquet contests. And you'd better start practicing your emotes.

Logging in to EQ

If you bring a laptop and you secure an internet connection, by all means, log in and tell your guildies how much fun you're having at Fan Faire, and how you met the designers and talked them into making a unicorn illusion over a few drinks at the party last night. Or you can just check to see if life goes on in game without you. It probably does, but there's definitely a big part of Norrath missing. Sniff.
